Mrs. Virginia Theodora Harty, 98, of Athens, Ga., passed away on January 30, 2017.

Virginia, known to her friends as Ginnie, was the daughter of the late Henrietta and Charles Koerner. A native of Haddonfield, N.J., she was a graduate of Moorestown Friends School in Moorestown, N.J., and attended Connecticut College and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she studied art and painting. A lifelong and gifted artist, she painted landscapes and portraits for friends and family in Athens, Ga., and her residence in Stuart, Florida.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Joseph Harty and son, Theodore K. Harty. She is survived by her son, Daniel J. Harty (Karen) of Cape Hatteras, N.C. and daughter, Christy McGahee (Glenn) of Athens, Ga.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment in Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, N.J.
