Cathleen "Cathie" Walz, age 67, died peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2016. From her birth in Columbus, Ohio on September 13, 1949 to her passing on Saturday, October 8, she nurtured people around her with love, acceptance, and spirit. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Laura Casey.

During her time on this earth, she helped many with her combination of generosity, honesty and acceptance of others as she served as a mentor and motherly figure to those who came into her life. She leaves so many behind that love her...

Cathleen "Cathie" Walz, age 67, died peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2016. From her birth in Columbus, Ohio on September 13, 1949 to her passing on Saturday, October 8, she nurtured people around her with love, acceptance, and spirit. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Laura Casey.

During her time on this earth, she helped many with her combination of generosity, honesty and acceptance of others as she served as a mentor and motherly figure to those who came into her life. She leaves so many behind that love her and so many wonderful memories and stories.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Casey and son, Branden Walz. Left to honor Cathie's memory are her former husband, Jim Walz (Carmela); her daughters, Lindsey Van Note (Blaine), Jennifer Tomchuk (Larry Vivian); her four grandchildren, Peyton Tomchuk (Daniel Patterson), Branden Vivian, Tanner Van Note, and Bailey Van Note; her soon to be great- grandchild, Miles Patterson; her siblings, sister, Penny Talarek, brother, Jon Casey, and her fourteen nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, Garden Terrace Room, 2450 S. Milledge Avenue, Athens, GA 30605, on Saturday, October 15, 2016. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
